How do you create a new fantasy football website and make it stand out from the rest? Extreme Team Football came to us and we showed them how!
The creators of Extreme Team Football felt that existing fantasy football websites were not challenging or interesting enough for the online user; due partly to the fact that many of them were never actually designed for the internet but had just simply migrated there. They saw the potential to create a better online fantasy football game and asked us to develop their exciting new model into a marketable website.
From the project initiation stage we agreed with Extreme Team Football that the site should focus on its unique elements. With this in mind they proposed a model which included different rules and exciting features.
Extreme Team Football makes fantasy football more like managing a 'real' English Premier League club. Fantasy managers face the challenges of squad selection with transfer windows in July/August and January, then weekly squad rotation. However what really makes this site distinctive is the in-depth reports and statistics. The powerful reporting engine of the site allows almost limitless analysis. Managers can challenge their friends, set up their own leagues, play in the online leagues and test their knowledge with fun quizzes.
With this exclusive element of the site in place we then focused on creating a rich user experience. With users of the site potentially making many requests per session as they analysed player data, we had to ensure that the technology behind the site supported this. The site was built using some of the most cutting edge technologies, including AJAX - a web development technique used for creating interactive web applications. We wanted to make web pages feel more responsive by exchanging small amounts of data with the server behind the scenes so that the entire web page does not have to be reloaded each time the user requests a change.
The end result is that we have created a highly interactive website that will engross football fans for hours!
