Online medical resource nominated for prestigious industry award

The 2007 Health Business Awards have nominated www.clinicalanswers.nhs.uk for NHS Website of the Year. The awards which will be held on 13th December at the Royal College of Physicians, London, recognise and celebrate the significant contributions made each year by organisations that work inside and alongside the NHS.
Developed by Sequence, www.clinicalanswers.nhs.uk is a service provided by TRIP Database Ltd for the National Library for Health. The aim of the site is to help members of England’s primary care teams find and obtain real-time answers to their clinical questions.
Sequence and TRIP Database Ltd, digital partners for over a decade, have succeeded in providing a suite of online services for the medical industry. The first of these was TRIP Database, which began in 1997 with founders Jon Brassey and Dr Chris Price, and sought to provide real-time answers to online clinical questions. The ethos for TRIP Database was borne out of the core principles of evidence based medicine, and succeeded in culminating in the follow-up site www.clinicalanswers.nhs.uk. Clinicalanswers.co.uk closely mirrors the same principles as TRIP Database’s core online resource, and aims to provide answers to a multitude of health professionals’ questions, again all in a real-time environment.
Nominated for NHS Website of the Year, this coveted prize is awarded to a NHS website that provides a comprehensive and easy to use information delivery mechanism aimed at either the general public or, more specifically, internal NHS departments. Selection criteria include design, accessibility, usability, take-up and cost effectiveness.
"To be nominated for NHS Website of the Year is a tremendous achievement. When developing the site we focused greatly on the functionality as it needed to have first-class facilities to enable TRIP Database to successfully provide the information that users required," said Richard Baker, Sequence’s Managing Director.
Jon Brassey, of clinicalanswers.nhs.uk said "We're delighted to be nominated for this award. In starting 'clinical answers' both TRIP Database Ltd and the National Library for Health wanted to try something different to help primary care health professionals manage their patients using the best available evidence. The project has proved very successful and we're thrilled that all the hard work has been recognised."
The winners of the 2007 Health Business Awards will be announced at a three course lunch ceremony on 13th December at The Royal College of Physicians, Regents Park. Attendees will be from the shortlisted organisations and award sponsors.
