BIMA

The website that Sequence created for Gain for Wales has been shortlisted for a BIMA award. The awards which will take place in London on November 29th celebrate and recognise creative excellence and craftsmanship within digital media.

The BIMAs are regarded as the most prestigious new media awards in Europe and they are seen to set the standard for the industry. They are basically the Oscars of the interactive world! The GAIN (Getting Accessible Information Now) for Wales website has been shortlisted in the Achievement in Accessibility category alongside work from other top UK digital agencies. Richard Baker, Sequence Managing Director comments "We are very proud of the GAIN For Wales website, the site in fact meets and exceeds the requirements for WAI (Web Accessibility Initiative) ‘Triple A’ criteria, the highest level of accessibility a site can have."

Funded by the Big Lottery Fund, GAIN for Wales is a three-year project led by RNIB Cymru in partnership with Cardiff Institute for the Blind, North Wales Society for the Blind and the Shaw Trust. Sequence was commissioned to develop a website with a fully accessible Content Management System (CMS) that would enable site content to be used and managed by blind and visually impaired users.

Richard Shearman, Project Manager comments "We believe this to be the first fully accessible and bilingual Content Management System. We worked closely with RNIB Cymru when developing the CMS - the end result being a website that can be fully managed by a visually impaired user using their screen reader software JAWS."

Ruth Marks, Director of RNIB Cymru said "We are thrilled that the website has been nominated for an award. The GAIN project was a really successful partnership initiative that had positive benefits for blind and partially sighted people across Wales. This unique website will ensure that these benefits continue in the long term."

The awards will be given at a Presentation Dinner on Wednesday 29th November at the Royal Hospital Gardens, Chelsea, London.
