Sell2Wales - a powerful web application, designed, developed and managed by Sequence has been shortlisted for a 2006 e-government award.
The Awards which will take place in London on 17th January highlight the UK's best services that improve citizen and business transaction with councils, central government departments and other public sector organisations.
Sell2Wales (www.sell2wales.co.uk) has been shortlisted in the category titled: Central e-Government excellence: Take Up. Finalists this year have been chosen from among a record 345 nominations that were submitted by senior professionals working across the public sector. Christopher Histed, founder of the e-Government National Awards and CEO of PublicTechnology.net says: "The Awards are a yardstick for excellence in innovative government services in the UK, including those enabling local communities to transact with their councils, national online government services for citizens or businesses, specific services for vertical industry sectors, and government services delivered online through intermediaries and the voluntary sector".
Aimed at helping SMEs win more public sector business, the Sell2Wales website enables businesses to search and view both high and low value contract opportunities advertised by Welsh public sector organisations. 80 Welsh public sector organisations have now used the website to advertise their contracts, with an average of £78 million worth of new contracts being listed each month. The site, which is entirely free to use, also provides businesses with access to OJEU adverts from across Wales, the UK and Europe. The leading user of the site is the Welsh Assembly Government, who posted contracts worth £412 million in the last 12 months alone.
Paul Osbaldeston, Sequence Project Manager comments "We are really proud to be nominated for the E-government awards. A huge amount of innovation has gone into the creation and development of sell2wales and I’d like to thank our team here for their hard work. sell2wales works through a great balance of private sector innovation and public sector forward thinking and should be a benchmark for successful innovation nationally".
Daniel Jones, who works for the Department of Enterprise, Innovation & Networks and is project manager of the site comments "I think the fact that the sell2wales website has been nominated for an e-government proves it is working as we intended. The site is an excellent resource for Welsh businesses and its usage is continuing to escalate rapidly -indicating the successful adoption of new technology by both buyers and suppliers in Wales."
The winners will be presented with their e-Government National Awards on 17th January 2007 at a black-tie dinner at the Savoy Hotel in London.
