The new Wales Millennium Centre opens today to the world of opera, ballet, dance and musicals. In the lead up to these celebrations the Wales Millennium Centre ran a massive publicity campaign across media including television ads, press advertising and billboards across the capital.

As part of this campaign the Wales Millennium Centre revamped its brand so that it would appear consistent in all situations. Sequence was appointed to redesign the WMC website as part of the cross-media campaign and produced a site that tied in with the new branding yet was clean and functional in design retaining the best features from the previous but completely upgrading the Wales Millennium Centre's online branding.

Creative Director, Mark Johnson says, "Through our involvement with other interactive projects with the Wales Millennium Centre we felt as an agency that we already had an in-depth understanding of the WMC brand. When the WMC adapted it's offline brand styling we were more than ready to step in and provide the online element to support the numerous media, TV adverts and press promotion. We have produced a site that maintains the best of the previous website but is readily identifiable and clearly representative of the new Wales Millennium Centre branding."

As Sequence have developed a number of web applications for Arts organisations in Wales including the Welsh National Opera, Chapter, Sherman Theatre, Clwyd Theatre Cymru and Sgrin amongst others, the WMC Intranet has also been redesigned and developed by Sequence to provide all the internal staff and staff members of resident organisations the opportunity to login and find relevant information regarding the Wales Millennium Centre.

Sequence also developed the WMC Kiosk application, which is a bilingual touch-screen application that is located on two 42" screens in the main entrance hall of the Wales Millennium Centre and is intended to support the WMC sponsorship programs 'Adopt-A-Slate' and 'Take-Your-Seat'.

In the case of 'Take-Your-Seat', sponsors are presented with details of their dedication, the location of their seat in the theatre and an interactive application of the view from their seat that allows sponsors to zoom & pan around the viewpoint from their seat. 'Adopt-A-Slate' sponsors are similarly well catered for and are able to enter their particular slate number (or select their name from the scrolling list) and view an image of their particular slate.

Sequence developed further Drag and Zoom applications, rendered from high resolution photography, so that visitors to the WMC who were not already sponsors would be able to explore both the theatre and exterior of the building before heading off to enjoy a concert or show in this magnificent new concert venue.

"We were delighted to be selected as the agency to create the Wales Millennium Centre kiosk application." Comments Mark Johnson, "The project really allowed us to flex our creative muscles and produce a vibrant and highly usable application that we believe will be particularly engaging for all visitors passing through the building. We worked hard to maintain the balance between functionality and design and are really pleased that we have been able to show off this magnificent building and provide an engaging resource for visitors to explore and enjoy. From a technical perspective we have produced a seamless integration between flash and the online sponsors registration database and are very proud of the fact that this is not a 'static' resource but one that is connected to a live database and will constantly change and evolve as more and more people become sponsors of 'Take-Your-Seat' and 'Adopt-A-Slate'. It's always a pleasure to work on projects related to the marvellous Wales Millennium Centre and this was no exception & we look forward to doing many more in the future."
