Snowdonia 1890 Website

In October 2010 BBC Wales launched landmark real-life drama series Snowdonia 1890.  The show takes two Welsh families on a life-changing journey back to the primitive existence of Snowdonia hillside farmers in the 19th century.

We were commissioned by BBC Wales to produce a full multiplatform production to run alongside the series offering background information, insight into the characters and the unfolding storylines as well as learning & historical resources to take the audience deep into the Snowdonia 1890 story.
 
The first stage of the process was to define the online experience for the audience and working closely with the BBC we developed a creative approach to tie in with the existing series branding, ensuring a close relationship between the look and feel of the television programme and the online experience.

With content in both English and Welsh, the website provides a platform for not only information on the series and what the families can expect from 19th century rural life, but also audio and audiovisual material containing behind-the-scenes and archive footage and custom built Flash functionality.

The Snowdonia 1890 website was nominated for a BAFTA Cymru award in 2011 in the New Media category.
