Monmouthshire County Council wanted to improve public access to tourist information for the Wye Valley and the Vale of Usk. To achieve their mission they commissioned us to develop secure web based kiosks.

In early 2004 we developed the first phase of Monmouthshire County Council’s digital strategy, this was the development of the Wye Valley and Vale of Usk website. The launch of the website was such a success that the council knew that this was the perfect tool to improve public access to tourist information. To broaden the website’s usability and access, Monmouthshire County Council asked us to develop the site into a touch screen application for web based kiosks.

The kiosks were first set up in the Tourist Information Centres via Monmouthshire County Council’s network. Our role within the project was to create a web application that would make the kiosk an exciting and informative experience for the user.

The introduction of the kiosks has not only complimented the existing information resources available to tourists but it has successfully achieved the council’s objective of allowing the general public access to tourist information 24 hours a day.
